Chapter 2.1 Slapping the Black Hearted Lotus

Zhou Yun Sheng stayed by Du Xu Lang’s side until his death, the day after, he also didn’t hesitate to leave the world. In the past, under the villain system’s control, he always unrelentingly transmigrated, completing one demented task after another, no chance to catch his breath.

This time, he was free to control his own time. He stayed in the XingHai space for a long time. He hibernated to nourish his soul, until his affection for Du Xu Lang gradually faded with the passage of time. When he woke up, he began fiddling with the AI on his wrist.

During the time when the AI had not been hacked by him, he learned that along with the tasks gradually becoming more troublesome, his soul power also increased. At the same time, he’d become more closely linked to the system. The system and the host depended on each other to survive, only waiting for some day when the soul power reached the most critical point, and the Lord God could absorb it through the system, digest it, and use it as a power source to support its heterodimensional space.

The so-called “be sent back to the real world after completing the tasks” was just a beautiful lie. They were merely a herd of livestock raised by the Lord God, once they fattened up, they would be slaughtered.

When 007’s tentacles penetrated deeper and deeper into his soul, he accidentally found out this secret. He was a hacker, so he wasn’t like other people who fanatically obsessed with returning to the real world. To him, there was no difference between real and virtual. In fact, he contrarily lived more uninhibited in the virtual world. He has always been the king of the virtual world.

It wasn’t unreasonable to say that choosing him was the Lord God’s greatest mistake, like inviting a wolf into the house.

After adjusting his mentality, Zhou Yun Sheng clicked the AI, then disappeared into the endless sky in a flash.

When he woke up again, Zhou Yun Sheng was standing in front of a canvas, holding a paint-stained brush, his body carrying a strong smell of poppy oil.

He stood still for a moment before he began observing the surrounding environment. This was a rather spacious and empty room, without any furniture, only four white walls and an opened window. Outside the window was a lush green garden, with luxuriant flowers resembling a brocade, and there was even a blue lake in the distance.

The scenery was beautiful and fascinating.

Except for Zhou Yun Sheng, there was no one else in the room. The AI’s screen flashed a lot of text, this was detailed data stolen from the Lord God about the original owner and this world.

The original owner was named Wei Xi Yan, 18 years old, currently studying in the capital’s Academy of Fine Arts. When he was ten years old, his parents died in a traffic accident. He was adopted by close friends of his parents, then moved to F country. The relationship between the couple was very deep, on the day of their silver wedding anniversary, they decided to travel around the world, their due return date uncertain.

Worried that Wei Xi Yan would be unable to take care of himself, they entrusted him to their son in the far away C country, Ning Si Nian.

Ning Si Nian was 28 years old this year, but he has already been married twice. The last wife died of bone cancer, leaving him with a dissatisfied three-year-old son named Ning Wang Shu. Due to being busy with the company, he had no time to look after his son, so Ning Si Nian selected a gentle, introverted woman to hastily marry. Although they had no feelings of husband and wife, it was better for life to be stable.

Wei Xi Yan and Ning Si Nian only met when they were children, then Ning father and Ning mother threw the huge family business to their son, and settled abroad long-term with Wei Xi Yan. So, the feelings between the two brothers wasn’t deep, you could even call them unfamiliar.

Wei Xi Yan lost his parents at a young age and his character became somewhat autistic. He could never take the initiative to cater to others, and was even more unlikely to add inconvenience to others. Ning Si Nian was mature and stable, he also wouldn’t deliberately make life difficult for an orphan. They lived together, mutually not disturbing the other, living in harmony.

But rotten was rotten. Ning Si Nian’s new wife Zhao Xin Fang had a pure outer appearance, but she was a vicious black-hearted lotus inside. Before marrying Ning Si Nian, she got together with Ning Si Nian’s close friend Qian Yu. Qian Yu was Ning Si Nian’s university classmate, after graduation, he accepted Ning Si Nian’s invitation to be his personal assistant.

Most personal assistants were trusted by the boss. This was a position where you were heavily relied upon, and needed to be self-discipled, when Qian Yu’s abilities reaches Ning Si Nian’s expectations, he would naturally arrange a more suitable position for him.

But Qian Yu obviously couldn’t wait. Due to being born in poverty, he had strong hostility towards the rich, and a more morbid sense of self-confidence. In his view, being ordered about like a nanny was an insult from Ning Si Nian. He started viewing Ning Si Nian as the enemy, on one side, he embezzled company property and sold company secrets, on the other side, he seduced Zhao Xin Fang to help with his plan to stab Ning Si Nian in the back.

But Ning Si Nian was the male protagonist in this world, he wasn’t so easy to deal with. The two were almost successful when the female protagonist appeared. She not only won Ning Si Nian’s love, she also exposed their schemes. In the series of dangerous and romantic confrontations, Wei Xi Yan was merely a negligible cannon fodder.

One day, he went out to buy paint and accidentally ran into Zhao Xin Fang and Qian Yu coming out of a hotel after a clandestine love affair. The two feared that he would tell this matter to Ning Si Nian and make him suspicious, so they set up a poisonous plot to expel him from the Ning family house.

Zhao Xin Fang bribed the Ning family’s nanny, Wang Ma, to let her abuse Ning Wang Shu. Then she secretly pointed out Ning Wang Shu’s shocking bruises to Ning Si Nian, and said that Wei Xi Yan was abusing him while she was out of the house. Ning Wang Shu was a little over two years old, he hadn’t formed a clear view of right and wrong yet, plus Wang Ma threatened to beat him. So, when he was brought before Ning Si Nian, already long frightened out of his soul, he said that his Xiao Shu hit him.

After repeated abuse, Ning Wang Shu suffered from autistic symptoms, he no longer cried or laughed. Ning Si Nian naturally despised Wei Xi Yan. Not only did he kick him out of the house, he also officially broke off their relationship. Zhao Xin Fang’s poisonous plot could be described as killing two birds with one stone. She eradicated the obstacle for her future children, and kept her cheating a secret.

A few years later, Wang Ma retired and the female protagonist applied for the nanny position. With her gentle care, Ning Wang Shu’s autistic symptoms miraculously improved, and the heroine also exposed Zhao Xin Fang and Qian Yu’s plot. When Ning Si Nian later sought out Wei Xi Yan, he learned that, because he had been abandoned by his loved ones once again, he’d already swallowed sleeping pills and committed suicide.

Ning Si Nian felt extremely sorrowful and guilty, but naturally, the heroine comforted him, allowing him to cheer up … …

Wei Xi Yan was the most innocent party in this story. He actually never suspected Zhao Xin Fang and Qian Yu, forget about taking the initiative to say anything to Ning Si Nian. Even until death, he never understood why he was expelled from the Ning family.

This character was very unfortunate, a hundred times more unfortunate than his previous body. He was only a prop to increase the feelings between the male and female protagonists.

After reading the material, Zhou Yun Sheng passed a hand through his hair, silently sighing. So far, Wang Ma had already complained to Ning Si Nian twice, and was abusing Ning Wang Shu even more severely. Ning Si Nian wanted to talk to Wei Xi Yan, but Wei Xi Yan was very closed off, once he caught sight of him approaching, he’d immediately hide in his studio and lock the door. No matter how much Ning Si Nian called out, he wouldn’t come out. This made Ning Si Nian very frustrated, he had no choice but to command Wang Ma to keep an eye out. Wang Ma herself was the culprit, if Ning Si Nian wasn’t thoroughly enraged, why would she stop?

When Wang Ma complains again, Wei Xi Yan should be expelled from the house.

After the last reincarnation, Zhou Yun Sheng gradually acquired some knack for these things. If he wanted to completely alter the world’s direction, he could change the fate of the protagonists, the original body, or other supporting roles. He could also change historical development and major events. But the fastest way was to change the protagonist’s fate, next was the original body’s fate, the others were progressively slower. The slower the choice, the more time and energy needed to be spent.

As the villain, Zhou Yun Sheng had already fought to the death with the protagonists hundreds of thousands of times, adding up to at least tens of thousands of years. After breaking free from the system’s control, he’d decided – unless the protagonist took the initiative to provoke him, he would never again entangle himself with the protagonist. Even with slow progress, what did time matter? Anyhow, he no longer had a time limit to complete tasks.

So, at the moment, his best choice was to change the original body’s fate, but there was still a great deal of cleverness involved. Helping the original body avoid danger was only the most basic approach. Restoring the original body’s reputation, then helping the original accomplish an unfulfilled desire and realize their dreams, this was called a complete change.

Right now, Zhou Yun Sheng could admittedly go directly to Ning Si Nian and explain the situation, but who would Ning Si Nian choose to believe? Wang Ma, who served the Ning family for decades and personally brought him up? Or an unfamiliar, cheap little brother with mental disabilities? The results were self-evident.

Besides, how should he explain why a closed-off teenager knew so much insider information?

Zhou Yun Sheng repeatedly pondered for a long time, then he decided to switch to a more tactful but also even more intuitive method to resolve the crisis. He put down his paintbrush, covered the canvas with a plain white cloth, then returned to his bedroom to wash up.

In the mirror, a pale and thin, but stunningly pretty face emerged, carrying both masculine and feminine charm. With light coffee colored, soft and smooth hair, obediently hanging to his ears, people couldn’t help but want to touch and rub it. The original sharp eyes, once they touched the mirror, suddenly faded away, replaced by a faint melancholy look.

After adjusting his temperament to imitate the original owner, Zhou Yun Sheng stripped off his clothes and walked into the shower. Due to discovering too many deadly secrets on the network, Zhou Yun Sheng had long become accustomed to a life of hiding away in this place and that place in the real world. He would hack someone’s identity then disguise himself as them, then after a period of time he would change into another person, cycling like this. From outer appearance to temperament, from temperament to habits, he could completely, from inside and out, become another person. His impeccable camouflage ability got him an appropriate code name–The Pretender.

As for Deicide, God-Slayer, that was a result of a sudden break out of Chunibyo disease.

Since he’d replaced the original body, he would completely live his life the way the original did, avoid all dangers for him, and achieve his every wish. He was now Wei Xi Yan, sunken into self-isolation because of the loss of his parents.

After a bath and change of clothes, Ning Si Nian also came back. Wang Ma sent a maid up to call Wei Xi Yan down to eat.

As the male protagonist, Ning Si Nian’s appearance was naturally extraordinarily handsome, his almost 190cm tall stature made anything he wore look amazing. Now, he was sitting at the dining table, gently coaxing his son Ning Wang Shu in his arms, who was silent, not smiling or crying. Hearing footsteps, his thick, shapely eyebrows wrinkled, and an ice-cold gaze was lightly cast over, full of lethality.

The original Wei Xi Yan, because he was too afraid of this look, refused to communicate with him, losing his chance to clarify himself. The current Zhou Yun Sheng was of course not afraid, but, as if frightened, he shrunk his neck, and chose to sit in the farthest corner away from Ning Si Nian.

Zhao Xin Fang said in a soft tone, “Si Nian, give me the baby, I’ll feed him, you eat first.” After saying this, she gently took Ning Wang Shu, her lowered eyelids covering up her deeply malicious eyes.

This chapter is the one I fell in love with this novel when I started reading it. Unlike the first story, here we can see MC’s intelligence and brilliance in taking upper hand without moving a finger (tho he painted XD) and the baby is really pitiful and cute. Imagine them as a family really warms my heart. MC’s skills are really visible and admirable in this chapter. He can change his fate even without being OOC. I feel like I’m worshipping him at this point.

I’m also quite curious, does the ML soul also just came after the MC or he really does live the life each time? Like does he really had a wife and produced a son and suddenly became bent for MC? TBH I’m that kind of person who dislikes cheating in any form. Be it emotionally or physically cheating. I don’t feel comfortable. Is this kind of book IT? Like the ML had a kind of any physical or emotional entanglements before meeting MC? Cause I’ll stop if it does.

Although your comment was 9 months ago, I hope you still read this to the end. As for your question, no, ml does not have any entanglement before meeting MC, he’s like an NPC who is only acting according to the world’s script. Only after MC came to the world, ml’s consciousness started (meaning his soul only awakened after MC’s presence). And if ML’s soul awakened earlier than MC’s arrival in some chapter, he would really become chaste and virgin before meeting MC lol. Don’t worry! (for the new readers too who also have like this question!)

Rereading this from the beginning because I failed to binge it and can’t continue from where I left off of because I can’t find the feeling anymore lol. Anyways.

Now I’m here imagining how that comforting went.

Hola, aquí en español porque apenas me entiendo en inglés.

Para la gente que se queja de la apariencia, ¿no deberías preguntar por qué el autor no maneja bien el tema del autismo en lugar de opinar sobre los gustos estéticos del autor?

Seriously those homophobic need to fuck off and stop being an eyesore, to think they read something without finding out about the genre first is really stupid and idiotic, i keep finding comments with naive way of thinking and weird imagination, i really wish they never find out about this novel

the shou always look androgynous or feminine. what the hell? can’t they both be manly?????? they’re men! not saying that feminine men aren’t men but is it too much to ask for a shou that is described as handsome instead of pretty, androgynous, etc?

It’s just the second arc why in a hurry? Are u gay that’s why you’re offended? It’s not like the writer intended to make it like that, it just about appearance, beautiful man also exist in real life and they’re still live normally

it’s JUST the second arc? then PLEASE tell me if there’s even ONE arc that the shou is NOT described in a feminine way, as more beautiful than girls with his “peach blossom eyes” bullshit? and when did i say anything about beautiful men irl? it’s just irritating that the author always make the shou feminine like they would die if the shou doesn’t adhere to the “90’s yaoi uke” stereotypes.

Man, calm down, first, I understand you’re point because sometimes I get pissed when the Shou is described as feminine, sometimes, not with this though. I freaking love this novel, so much that I lost the count of how many times I’ve read this.
I’ve read another novel of the author, and yeah, I think she likes writing the Shou with a beauty in between feminine and manly, and also, she or he has an attachment with eyes, so, peach blossom eyes it is heh.
Either way, don’t make a drama out of it, you’re complaining for nothing but the author’s taste in writing this, if you wanna complain then do somewhere else and stop reading this so your little brain doesn’t get burnt from rage.
Also, I don’t think this has anything to do with the story rather than making you imagine the character…. Soo… Just imagine the character like something else (???

Bruh have fucking patience would you? I already read the whole thing and in many arcs in this novel, the uke is manly. Also, in the first arc, the uke wasn’t said to be feminine. What’s wrong with having diversity? Just because this one arc the uke is said to be feminine you decided to vent here the anger from other novels you read… Fucking calm down and read.

I also love manly shous and manly gays sometimes (Lin Jingheng anyone?). But there’s literally nothing wrong with effeminate and androgynous people…and most importantly, it is the author’s right to design her characters however she wants, and her right to write the story plots however she wants. Just like when we have our own OCs and we design them however we want. We have no say in how other people design their OCs nor should we have opinions on it. We can also come across ugly MCs or average looking MCs like in YGMCT, we literally have no say in it and just enjoy the story if we like, if we don’t we quietly exit like a normal person instead of creating unnecessary dramas. If you continuously focus on these small things, you will lose sight of what the story is about and overall create a bad reading experience for yourself and others – who might want to talk about what is actually happening in the story instead of their looks. ALSO, there is nothing wrong with unmanly/feminine bottoms/gays in general. At the end of the day, its the author, the creator’s choices and we cannot take that away from them. Stop being lowkey homophobic with a hate towards gay twink characters. They can even be male wives material, author could even wifed them up for gongs, we literally have no say in it.
For me, i like manly gay couple, murder couple, power couple but i also like unmanly gay couple with weak and pretty shous who can’t help but tremble at every touch, at every kiss…the more variety, the better.

Hm. I really don’t like how the author has used autism in this chapter. Autism is a development disorder of the brain. Not a character trait. The protagonist could be autistic but then it should be explained as such. And that son cannot possibly develop autism through abuse as people develop it already in the womb and therefore there are no symptoms of such. He more likely is showing symptoms of ptsd.

Fuck this fake wife and fake assistant. The assistant is quite brazen, you should be glad you were offered a job! Also, your job is called personal assistant, of course you are to receive orders! What horrible mentality! Really gross! Then, that horrible wife, let’s say birds of a feather flock together. But how could you hurt a baby? I’m quite enraged, not to mention the nanny! Hello protagonist, how could have such people all around you? This is very questionable lol
Thank you for your hard work!

Did you not even read the tags on the NU page or even the foreword, perhaps the reviews! jeez. There are lots of straight novels with diverse genres but ‘those ppl’ always stumbled into the wrong lane..and then lowkey/highkey complained about it with homophobic undertones. I am sick and tired of this. And fyi as long as you’re not homophobic, you can read anything, does not mean you are turning gay smh. If you’re homophobic, i advice you not to read stuffs like this and bitch about it ‘being gay’ afterwards…please for your sanity, check the tags carefully next time and let the lgbtq ppl and their allies breathe in peace enjoying those rare novels that represent them and starred them as protags among a sea of het fictions! I’ve seen lots of comments like yours before in other novels as well, while they are aggressive, yours is much more calm i know and i might sound like a crazy person ranting (hate me all you want)..but even the slightest indication of homophobic undertones set my hackles on a rise. This novel is always gay, it does not suddenly ‘became yaoi’ as you put it. Its a Chinese danmei (boys love) novel so take it or leave it srlsy just leave it.

“reading BL won’t make you gay, just bisexual”? you don’t ‘turn’ bisexual, you either are or aren’t, same as being born gay, straight, etc. bisexuality deserves the same respect as other sexualities, please check your internalized biphobia (and i mean this genuinely as a bi person myself, not trying to hate).

I think I get it. After I realized this was Yaoi aka BL it became clear. People who are praising this so highly must only read BL novels and generally these stories do not have much depth ( except ‘The Founder of Diabolism’).
This is why this simple story gets their praise.

Well, if you want a BL with depth I recommend you to read “Legendary Master’s Wife”. This story gets praise because it’s a simple yet entertaining story with arcs in the form of various stories and a OP protagonist.
I, personally, like this story because the MC is pretty much too OP and all knowing almost every arc.
After reading a lot of protagonists who don’t fight back, this one is very refreshing. This story is a breath of fresh air after the mess Mo Dao Su Zhi make me feel.

Legendary Master’s Wife is quite good at start… but with the repetitive plot nah plus it’s too long and doesn’t have any direction of the plot, simply “overpowered couple” like that, I dropped it on 175 chapter something. You should read Heavenly Official’s Blessing, it’s so wonderful and no plot holes! or 2HA if you can tolerate pain lol

I tried reading Heavenly Official’s blessing but I couldn’t see the appeal. Something in that novel made me quit it.
Weird considering I read all the chapters of Legendary Master’s Wife. I know sometimes the plot gets repetitive but it actually have a direction but you get to know it at the end. So when you re-read it it gets more entertaining because you know the plot now.
I don’t know what is 2HA and google doesn’t help either. If you can tell me the title complete I would be grateful.

where did you drop heaven’s official? it’s an amazing read and the mc’s back story is pretty heartbreaking. Besides, same author as The Founder of Diabolism so you can expect that level of story and plot.

2HA’s full name is “The Husky and His White Cat Shizun”, it’s a great novel as well but full of angst and pain pain pain lol.

many BL novels are amazingly written and have stunning plots. MXTX’s novels for sure, but Priest is also an amazing author, whose works usually contain a ton of politics and nuanced characters.
FOD imo is more simple, a little more linear, but hella entertaining to read with solid characters and plots (because there are several, it doesn’t get boring); that’s where the praise comes from, and there’s nothing wrong with that. You dont need “but muh depth” for a story to be good.

You sound homophobic but refused to admit it. I seriously don’t understand how they still replied to you with patience and even rec some novels to you i wouldn’t even bother enabling your kind. I’ve seen your kind all the damn time..one thing i’ve learned is to never play nice to ppl like you. You don’t know how ppl may have read it or their experience, don’t used those accusatory words disguised as a normal comment on them. Most sane ppl here knows its bl danmei, thats why they read it and grows to love it..they do not praise it just cause its yaoi, they might have praised it cause they genuinely liked it, you have no say in that or have no right to sneer at their choice. Yes you wanted to praise FOD/MDZS good for you thats my fav too..but do not praise a novel just to drag and bash the others to make it look good. Clearly you haven’t read Priest’s works before or other well known danmei writers..and you say BL novels don’t have depths lmao…your hetero webnovels could never compare to danmei and baihe’s level of elegance. “This is why this simple story gets their praise” …you really said this with your whole chest huh. They praised a story cause they like it, it does not matter if others hate it, those who liked it will still praised it, how about not looking down on them and mind your business…. “People who are praising this so highly must only read BL novels and generally these stories do not have much depth” wow the homophobia disguised as a concerned reader…so to you majority of the BL novels suck cause you think the gays can’t do better than the straights? ok duly noted. I think you must be new to this type of genre. This is quick-trasmigration novel and this kind of novels have different kind of charm than other genre like horror and etc. have its own standards and quick-trasmigration novels has that too. Among quick-transmigration novels I have ever read this is one of the best. You need to try to read other quick-transmigration novels before stating something like that. For me, novels are great in their own right. Its just depends whether you like it or not if you don’t like it just stop reading but don’t disrespect and insult the people who like the novel because I was really insulted when you said “this simple story gets their praise”
